At the age of 10, Alexis started earning a living by selling flowers from a hand-decorated cart. During his high school years, he discovered the club scene in New York City, which greatly influenced his passion for fashion and design.

Entrepreneurship and Success

After briefly attending college, Alexis returned to New York and continued working with precious antiques that he loved. However, he soon grew tired of trading other people's creations. In 1988, Bittar launched his own line of jewelry. He created two collections of jewelry using semi-precious stones and metals, and sold them on the streets of Soho. In 1992, Dawn Mello, the fashion director of Bergdorf-Goodman, noticed Bittar's work, and shortly after, he gained the support of Saks Fifth Avenue. His list of collaborating retailers continued to grow, and soon his creations were being sold not only in the United States, but also in London and Japan.
