Biography of Alexis Ohanian
Alexis Ohanian, the husband of Serena Williams and one of the co-founders of Reddit, was born on April 24, 1983, in New York. His great-grandparents were originally from Harbert (now Elazığ) and Bitlis in Armenia. In 1910, they fled to the United States to escape the Armenian Genocide and settled there. Over the years, they had four children: Vera, John (Alexis' grandfather), Elsa, and Mary.
Mayor of the Internet
Forbes magazine dubbed Alexis Ohanian the "Mayor of the Internet." Additionally, for two consecutive years, the magazine included him in their "30 Under 30" list, recognizing him as a prominent figure in the high-tech industry. In 2013, Wired magazine featured a substantial article on Ohanian, describing him as an "innovative leader."
Projects and Ventures
Besides co-founding Reddit, one of the top 100 global websites, Ohanian has been involved in several other successful projects. In 2010, he participated in the launch of Hipmunk, a travel website, and founded Das Kapital Capital, a company specializing in financing and consulting startups. Two years prior, he started BreadPig, a website where people can purchase quirky items, with a significant portion of the profits going towards charitable causes.
Tennis Enthusiast and Serena Williams
After meeting Serena Williams, Alexis Ohanian developed an interest in tennis and regularly attends matches, despite never previously being interested in the sport. Although their social media pages contain few joint photos, Ohanian doesn't hesitate to dedicate posts to Serena, congratulating her on her achievements or proudly sharing updates about the tennis player with his followers. He affectionately refers to Williams as the "queen."
