Biography of Alfred F. Kelly Jr.

Alfred F. Kelly Jr. is the President and CEO of the Global Consumer Group at American Express. He assumed this position on July 1, 2007. Kelly oversees various areas of the company's operations, including the consumer card division, the OPEN American Express team, the consumer travel department, the worldwide traveler's check and prepaid services division, the core services department, the North America control group, the American consumer services division, the global risk management department, and interactive services.

Before his current role, Kelly served as the President of the Small Business and Merchant Services division at American Express from October 2005 to July 2007. He left this position due to a promotion. He also held the position of President of American Consumer and Travel Related Services at Travel Related Services Company, Inc.

Prior to his tenure at American Express, Kelly was one of the top executives in the area of strategy development and financial planning at PepsiCo. He gained extensive experience in consumer marketing, strategic planning and development, customer loyalty, and information technology.

Kelly has also held director positions at MetLife, Inc. since June 2009 and Hershey Co. from August 11, 2005, to November 11, 2007. He has been Vice Chairman of the Wall Street Charity Classic Golf Society for twelve years. Additionally, he serves on the boards of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Ion Prep School, and Ion College. Kelly is also a member of the board of directors of the U.S. Global Corporation and the Carvel Children's Rehabilitation Center, as well as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Kelly holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ion College.
