Biography of Ali Bongo Ondimba

Ali Bongo Ondimba is a Gabonese political figure who has served as the President of Gabon since October 16, 2009. He also held the positions of Minister of Defense from 1999 and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1991.

Family and Music

Ali Bongo Ondimba has a daughter named Malika Bongo Ondimba and two sons, Nuredin Eduard Bongo Valentin and Jalil Louis Bongo Valentin. In addition to his political career, Bongo is also known as a musician and often writes songs for his mother, Pascale Dabany.

Presidential Election

On August 30, 2009, presidential elections were held in Gabon following the death of former President Omar Bongo. Around twenty candidates participated in the elections, and on the same day, Ali Bongo announced his victory.

On September 4, 2009, the Constitutional Court of Gabon approved the results of the presidential elections, declaring Ali Bongo as the new head of state with 41.7% of the votes. The court officially declared him the president of the country in a live broadcast on Gabonese television. The inauguration ceremony took place on October 16.
