Alik L. Alik: A Diplomat and Politician

Early Life and Education

Alik L. Alik was born and raised in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). He attended high school in Micronesia before completing his higher education at the International University in Hawaii and Graceland College in Iowa.

Diplomatic Career

Upon returning to his home country, Alik served as a teacher at Kosrae High School. In 1982, he joined the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs. From 1989 to 1998, Alik served as the Micronesian ambassador to Fiji, with concurrent accreditation as ambassador to Israel and several other Pacific island nations. From 1998 to 2003, he was the ambassador to Japan.

Congressional Service

In 2003, Alik was elected to the 13th Congress of the FSM as a representative from the state of Kosrae. During his term, he chaired the Committee on Resources and Development. In the 14th Congress, he became Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations.

Vice Presidency

On May 11, 2007, Alik L. Alik was elected Vice President of the Federated States of Micronesia under President Manny Mori. He served in this role until the end of their term in 2015.

Personal Life

Alik L. Alik is married to Shra Lono and they have two children.
