Early Life and Education

Alim Qasimov was born in 1957 in Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. From 1970 to 1982, he resided in Aşağı Güzdək, a village in the Absheron region. From 1978 to 1982, he studied at the Asaf Zeynalli Baku Music College, followed by studies at the M. A. Aliyev Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts from 1983 to 1989.

Musical Career

Qasimov's first television appearance occurred in 1979 on Azerbaijan's national television channel. He participated in the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics and has since graced many international festivals and concert halls in America, Europe, and Asia.

International Recognition:

1988: First prize winner of the International Festival in Samarkand, Uzbekistan

1988: First place at the 22nd UNESCO International Music Festival in the US with the Azerbaijani trio

1989: Music medal in Bonn, West Germany

1991: Member of the Parisian municipal theater "De-Le-Ville"

Opera and Pedagogy

Since 1989, Qasimov has been a soloist with the Azerbaijan State Theater of Opera and Ballet, portraying roles such as Majnun and Ashig Garib. He also teaches at the Asaf Zeynalli Music College as an associate professor.

"Silk Road" Project

Qasimov has significantly contributed to the "Great Silk Road" project initiated by the renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and became a member of the "Silk Road" ensemble.

Book about Alim Qasimov

A book titled "Alim" by the musicologist and publicist Natavan Fuad Mustafaeva is dedicated to Qasimov's life and творчество. The book was edited and prefaced by the Azerbaijani writer Chingiz Abdullaev, reviewed by the composer Franghiz Alizadeh, and consulted by the rector of BMA, Farhad Badalbeyli. Yo-Yo Ma's quote, "I am happy to live at the same time as Alim Qasimov..." serves as the book's epigraph.
