Early Life and Education
Natalya Petrivna Vedmid was born on June 28, 1940, in the Kyiv region of Ukraine. She pursued her education at the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy in Kyiv, where she earned a degree in agronomy.
Career in Agriculture
Vedmid's career in agriculture spanned various roles. She began as an agronomist for a collective farm, followed by positions as an engineer-economist at the Ukrainian Machine Testing Station and a labor training teacher at a secondary school. She then became the chief economist of a collective farm.
Leadership at "Zarya"
In 1977, Vedmid ascended to the position of chairperson of the "Zarya" collective farm in the village of Salyvonky, Kyiv region. The farm later became the agricultural production cooperative "Agrofirm 'Zarya.'"
Political Involvement
Vedmid was actively involved in politics, holding membership in the Communist Party of Ukraine and the Supreme Council of the All-Ukrainian Union "Working Women for the Future of Ukrainian Children." She was elected as a people's deputy at various levels, including rural, district, and regional councils. She also served as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR and a people's deputy of Ukraine in the third convocation (1998-2002).
Recognition and Awards
Vedmid's contributions to agriculture were recognized with the title Hero of Socialist Labor in 1990. She also received the Order of the Badge of Honor (1976) and several medals for her achievements.
Personal Life
Natalya Vedmid was married to Anatoliy Panasovych Vedmid, who passed away in 1981. They had two sons, Oleksiy (born 1960) and Ihor (born 1969), and four grandchildren.
Tragic Death
Tragically, Natalya Vedmid passed away in September 2008 as a result of an automobile accident. Her legacy continues to be celebrated in the field of agriculture and within the communities she served.
