Biography of Almaz Atambayev
Almaz Sharshenovich Atambayev was born on September 17, 1956, in the village of Arashan, Alamadin District, Chui Region, Kyrgyz SSR. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Management in 1980, receiving a degree in engineering and economics. After graduation, Atambayev worked as an engineer and leading economist in the Ministry of Communications of the Kyrgyz SSR. In addition, he worked as a translator of Kyrgyz literature into Russian. In 1981, he became the chief engineer of the Road and Operational Management Department No. 4. From 1983, Atambayev worked as an editor and senior referent in the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz SSR.

In 1989, Atambayev began his entrepreneurial career by establishing and leading the Forum Scientific-Production Firm. He later became the general director of the Kyrgyz Automotive Plant and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kyrgyzavtomash. In 1999, he became the chairman of the board of directors of the Forum Industrial Group. He also held various positions in the Kyrgyzavtomash Corporation and was involved in the establishment of joint Kyrgyz-Chinese and Kyrgyz-Turkish enterprises.

In 1993, Atambayev founded and became the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan (SDPK). He served as a deputy of the lower house of the Kyrgyz parliament from 1995 to 2000. In 2000, he ran for president of Kyrgyzstan and secured the third place in the elections.

Atambayev's political career continued as he participated in the events of the "Tulip Revolution" in 2005, which led to the resignation of President Askar Akayev. He held various government positions, including Minister of Industry, Trade, and Tourism from 2005 to 2006, and served as the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan in 2007.

In 2009, Atambayev became the unified opposition candidate for the presidency of Kyrgyzstan. However, he was not successful in the elections, and President Kurmanbek Bakiyev was reelected. Atambayev continued his political activities and played a prominent role in the opposition movement against Bakiyev's government.

In 2011, Atambayev ran for president again and won the election. He served as the President of Kyrgyzstan from 2011 to 2017, focusing on social and economic development, as well as strengthening ties with other Central Asian countries. During his presidency, he faced challenges such as maintaining stability and addressing corruption issues.
Almaz Atambayev is married and has six children. He is known for his interest in tourism and has been involved in promoting the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan.
