Alois, Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein

Early Life and Family

Alois was the son of Prince Alfred of Liechtenstein and Princess Henriette of Liechtenstein, daughter of Alois II. He was born in Hollenburg, Austria.

Marriage and Children

On April 20, 1903, Alois married Archduchess Elisabeth Amalie of Austria, daughter of Archduke Karl Ludwig. They had eight children together.

Renunciation of Succession

On February 26, 1923, Alois renounced his right to the throne in favor of his son, Franz Joseph II. Franz Joseph II became the new Prince of Liechtenstein in 1938, after the death of Franz I.

Awards and Honors

Alois was awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece in Austria, becoming the 1177th knight of the order.

Death and Legacy

Alois of Liechtenstein died in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, leaving behind a legacy as a member of the ruling house of Liechtenstein.
