Early Life and Family Background
Alsou Safina Ralifovnawas born on June 27, 1983, in the city of Bugulma, Tatar ASSR. Her father, Rafik Rafilich Safin, was the First Vice President of the oil company "LUKoil," while her mother, Razia Iskhakovna, worked in London. Due to her parents' work, Alsou spent her childhood in the Russian North and moved to Moscow in 1991. She completed music school and three grades of secondary school in Russia.
Move to London and Music Discovery
In 1993, Alsou relocated to London to live with her older brother's family. Recognizing her daughter's vocal abilities, her parents arranged for her to audition for producer Valery Belotserkovsky, who highly praised her voice.
Musical Breakthrough
In 1999, Alsou released her debut album, "Alsou," which featured 11 songs. Her breakout single, "Zimniy Son" (Winter Dream), was premiered on MTV on February 1, 1999, gaining widespread popularity.
International Success
In 2000, Alsou signed a contract with Universal Music, a leading global record label. She represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 in Sweden, where she placed second. In June and July 2000, she embarked on a successful first major tour, performing in 11 Russian cities.
Career and Education
Alsou is currently working on an English-language album, which is set to be released in Europe. She holds the honorary title of Honored Artist of Tatarstan (2000) and is an honorary citizen of Bugulma. Alsou is studying architecture and design at MPW College in London and has an English boyfriend of Indian descent.
