Amina Pasha Dilbazi: A Biography
Amina Pasha Dilbazi was an Azerbaijani Soviet dancer and choreographer. She was born on December 26, 1919, in Kazakh. Her first appearance on stage was in 1935 when she performed the song "Kolkhoz Spaces" by Uzeyir Hajibeyov. From 1936 to 1939, she was a soloist in the song and dance ensemble of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic. Later, Dilbazi became the leader of the dance group. In 1959, she started directing the student dance ensemble "Chinar" and was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR in the same year. In 1967, she created the women's ensemble "Sevindzh". Since 1949, she taught at the Choreographic School. Amina Dilbazi's husband was composer Jovhet Hajiyev. The artist passed away on April 30, 2010, at the age of 90 and is buried in the II Alley of Honor. Some of her popular dances include "Innabi," "Terekeme," "Mirzai" ("Vagzaly"), "Turadzhi," and "Naz Eliyam." In addition to Azerbaijani dances, Dilbazi also performed Russian, Ukrainian, Uzbek, and Arab dances. Amina Dilbazi was also a choreographer for dance numbers in films such as "I Invent a Song" and "Ulduz," as well as stage works such as the opera "Layla and Majnun" and the musical comedies "Arshin-Mal-Alan" and "Not That One, But This One." In the film "Not That One, But This One," Amina Dilbazi herself danced in the scene of Gulnaz preparing for her wedding with Meshadi Ibad. In 1957, she was awarded a gold medal at the VI International Youth and Student Festival held in Moscow.
