Amy Kathleen Sloan, known professionally as Amy Sloan, was born on May 12, 1978, in Gladstone, Manitoba. She grew up in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. Amy's mother, Mary Sloan, was also an actress, while her father, Dave Sloan, served as the Minister of Health in the Yukon government in Canada.

Early Career
In 1999, Amy graduated from the Canadian National Theatre School. Shortly after, she appeared in two commercials and landed her first major role as Marilyn Bell in the television film "Heart: The Marilyn Bell Story" on CBC. Amy made her debut on the theatrical stage in a production of "All My Sons".
