Early Life and Career
Youth Teams and TrainingMikhail Kožemjakin began his football journey in the youth teams of Moscow's Lokomotiv and FShM from 1965 to 1970. His early mentors were Viktor Panfilov, Vladimir Bekhtenev, and Viktor Bubukin.
Debut and National Teams
Domestic BreakthroughKožemjakin made his debut in the Soviet Top League for Dynamo Moscow on May 2nd, 1970, against Torpedo Moscow. In 1973, he contributed 16 goals to Moscow's teams, earning him the Evening Moscow newspaper's Top Scorer award.
International Recognition
Kožemjakin made his international debut for the Soviet Union on March 29th, 1972, against Bulgaria. He played three games for the USSR senior team and featured in the qualifying matches for the 1974 World Cup.
Kožemjakin's international experience also included appearances for various youth national teams. He was a key player in the winning Moscow youth team at the 1969 Soviet Schoolchildren's Spartakiad and won individual awards for his performances in the UEFA Youth Tournament and Cup of Hope.
Club Success and Honors
Dynamo MoscowWith Dynamo Moscow, Kožemjakin won the bronze medal in the 1973 Soviet Championship and reached the final of the 1972 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
Tragic Death
Kožemjakin's promising career was cut short on October 13th, 1974, in a tragic lift accident. He was posthumously recognized as one of the "33 Best Players in the USSR" in 1973.
Legacy
Kožemjakin is remembered as a talented forward who excelled at youth level and made a promising start to his professional career. His tragic death at a young age remains a loss to the football community.
