Early Career at Racing Santander
Sergio Canales began his professional career with Racing Santander, where he progressed through the youth ranks before making his official debut in 2008 against Osasuna. In 2010, his outstanding performances earned him recognition from top clubs across Europe.
Move to Real Madrid
On February 12, 2010, Canales joined Real Madrid for a fee of €5 million. However, his time at the club was marked by injuries and limited playing time.
Loan to Valencia and Transfer to Real Sociedad
Canales was loaned to Valencia for the 2011/12 season and then permanently signed by the club for €7.5 million in 2012. In 2014, he moved to Real Sociedad, where he remained until 2018.
Betis and International Debut
On July 3, 2018, Canales joined Real Betis as a free agent. In March 2019, he made his international debut for Spain.

Canales has been in a relationship with Cristina Llorente since 2007. They married in 2016 and have three children: India, Noah, and Frida.
