Early Life and Career
Vasil Gigiadze, Georgian footballer, was born and raised in Kutaisi. His passion for football ignited at the tender age of seven, leading him to join the "Rtsmena" youth team. A decade later, he made his way into the senior squad.
Club Career
Gigiadze's professional career began with FC Torpedo Kutaisi, where he spent two seasons. However, a disagreement with the coach forced him to move to FC Iberia Samtredia. His impressive performances caught the attention of Dutch coach Johan Boskamp, who invited him to join FC Dinamo Tbilisi.
Despite earning two bronze medals with Torpedo and one silver with Dinamo, Gigiadze's time in Tbilisi was brief. Before venturing to Ukraine, he nearly signed with FC Torpedo Moscow but negotiations fell through due to a lack of agreement on personal terms.
Crimean Adventure
In 2001, Gigiadze arrived in Simferopol to join FC Tavriya alongside his brother, Soso. While Soso failed to make the team, Vasil quickly became a starting player and later the captain. However, in 2003, he briefly moved to FC Uralan due to Tavriya's financial difficulties.
Four years later, Gigiadze left Tavriya again when his contract expired, considering offers from several Ukrainian clubs. He ultimately chose FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih under the persuasion of Oleksandr Kosevych.
Later Career
Financial reasons led Gigiadze to seek other opportunities. He was on the verge of signing with FC Rapid București but was recalled by Kryvbas. In 2007, he joined FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta from Akhtyrka, playing 13 matches without scoring.
In 2008, Gigiadze returned to Tavriya for a third time, signing a two-year contract. He emerged as a regular player and made his debut for the Georgian national team under Alain Giresse, earning a total of six caps.
Personal Life
Gigiadze remained unmarried until the age of 27. A year after his wedding, he and his wife welcomed a daughter named Nino. His wife lived in Georgia until Nino's baptism, after which she moved to Kryvyi Rih with their child. Football was not limited to Vasil, as his twin brother, Soso, also played but retired due to an injury.
