Andrea Lauren Bowen, born on March 4, 1990, is an American television actress and a two-time nominee of the Screen Actors Guild Award. She is best known for her role as Julie Mayer in the drama television series "Desperate Housewives."
Early Career
Andrea, of Welsh descent, made her debut on Broadway in 1996, playing young Cosette and young Eponine in "Les Misérables." She played these roles at the age of six, becoming the youngest actress ever to do so. From 1996 to 2001, Bowen was a constant presence on the Broadway stage. In 1998, she performed in the original revival production of "The Sound of Music," and in 2000, she played the role of Adele in the musical adaptation of the classic English novel "Jane Eyre." Bowen is a member of the well-known concert group "Broadway Kids," where some of her siblings also occasionally perform in various musicals.
Television Career
Bowen's television career began much later, at the age of twenty-four. In 2004, she portrayed Julie Mayer in the popular drama television series "Desperate Housewives." Currently, she is working in the modeling industry as part of the Miss Selfridge modeling group. She also occasionally appears in guest roles in various television series, such as "One Tree Hill," "Boston Public," and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." In the 2004 film "Red Riding Hood," she played one of the "Three Ashleys." Recently, Bowen landed the role of Candace in the esoteric adventure film "Eye of the Dolphin." She also played the lead role in the concept film "Lifetime Original" called "Girl, Positive." This unique experience allowed her to spread an important message among young people - "HIV is something that only you can protect yourself from." The actress herself has expressed a desire to play a similarly important and relevant role again.
