Early Life and Education
In her early youth, Baroness von Knoop first visited the Soviet Union as part of a West German delegation to the "Chemistry-1965" exhibition. By her own admission, she represents the renowned von Knoop dynasty, with her husband's ancestor, Ludwig von Knoop, being a founder of Russia's textile industry. On her own initiative, she interned at Moscow State University in the early 1970s.
Career in Russia
In 1993, at the behest of the prominent German entrepreneur Otto Wolff von Amerongen, Baroness von Knoop took charge of the Delegation of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Russia. Two years later, she became Chairman of the Board of the German Economic Club in Russia, holding both positions until 2007.
After 2007, Baroness von Knoop served as a Senior Advisor for Ernst & Young, gaining recognition as a preeminent expert on German business in Moscow. In 2000, she co-authored the book "Great Future - Germans in the Economic Life of Russia: A History of Long-Standing Reliable Partnership," which was re-issued in 2012.
German-Russian Ties
Baroness von Knoop played a significant role in strengthening German-Russian economic ties during her tenure. She held the title of Honorary Representative of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce in Russia from 1995 to 2007. Additionally, she served as Chairman of the Board of the German Economic Association in Russia until 2007, remaining its Honorary President today. She is also an esteemed member of the Board of the German-Russian Forum in Berlin.
