Andreas Dombret: A Distinguished Career in Banking and Finance

Early Life and Education

Andreas Raymond Dombret was born on January 16, 1960, in the United States. He earned an MBA from Westfälische Wilhelms University Münster and a doctorate from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, with a dissertation on merger and acquisition premiums supervised by Dr. Wolfgang Gerke.

Academic and Professional Experience

Dombret has served as a guest lecturer for many years at the Institute of Banking and Finance and various M&A courses. He is also an honorary professor at the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, where he frequently guest lectures on investment banking and capital markets in the MBA program.

Banking Career

Before joining Bank of America, Dombret was a managing director and one of the heads of German operations for Rothschild, a multinational investment banking firm. Prior to that, he spent a decade at J.P. Morgan in London and Frankfurt.

From 2005 to 2009, Dombret was Vice Chairman of Bank of America's Global Corporate and Investment Bank for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as head of the German, Austrian, and Swiss operations.

German Federal Bank

Since 2010, Dombret has served on the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank, where he is responsible for financial stability, statistics, and risk control.

Other Affiliations and Memberships

Dombret is a member of the advisory board of the Center for Financial Studies at the University of Frankfurt. He was also a member of the non-partisan advisory body "Konvent für Deutschland," the Europa Forum, and the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt.

He has supported the Museum Wiesbaden, Museum Island Berlin, Frankfurt Cultural Committee, and the Austrian Society for Banking Studies.
