German Classical Tenor

Andreas Karasiak is a German classical tenor who performs both in standard operatic repertoire and in concert. He studied voice at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz under Claudia Eder, and furthered his musical education in the Baroque music tradition at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, where he worked with Belgian conductor René Jacobs.

Opera and Oratorio

Karasiak has been performing on the stage of the National Theatre Mannheim since 1999, where he has sung primarily in Mozart operas, including the roles of Tamino, Ferrando, and Belmonte. He has collaborated with such historical performance figures as Gustav Leonhardt, Marcus Creed, and Philippe Herreweghe. He has participated in the "Dieterich Buxtehude - Opera Omnia" project organized by Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir, recording the complete works of the Danish-German Baroque composer. He has also performed with Helmuth Rilling, Sylvain Cambreling, and others.

In 1998 and 2007, Karasiak sang the tenor solos in Hermann Suter's opera "Le Laudi" at the St. Bonifatius Catholic Church in Wiesbaden. In 2000, he sang in Bach's "St Matthew Passion" as part of a double choir, with the Knabenchor Hannover (Hanover Boys' Choir) and the Thomanerchor, conducted by Heinz Hennig for the 50th anniversary of the Knabenchor Hannover. In 2006, he sang the Evangelist in Bach's "Christmas Oratorio" at the Kreuzkirche, with the Dresdner Kreuzchor and the Dresden Philharmonic. On Good Friday 2007, Karasiak appeared as the Evangelist in the "St Matthew Passion" (conductor Martin Haselböck) at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, alongside Stephen Salters, Lynne Dawson, Robin Blaze, and Klaus Mertens.

Concerts and Recordings

Andreas took part in Handel's "Solomon" with the Schiersteiner Kantorei at the Marktkirche in Wiesbaden in 2009. In the same year, he and Dorothee Mields were the soloists in Harald Weiss's requiem "Schwarz vor Augen und es ward Licht", which premiered on October 31, 2009, with the NDR Symphony Orchestra. Karasiak has also participated in recordings of rarely performed operas, including Handel's "Lotario", Domenico Cimarosa's "Gli Orazi e i Curiazi", Gluck's "L'innocenza giustificata", and Haydn's "Die Feuersbrunst".

Teaching and Masterclasses

He teaches voice at the Hochschule für Musik Rheinland-Pfalz (Academy of Music Rhineland-Palatinate) and gives masterclasses.
