London Musician and Rhythm Guitarist for Primal Scream

Andrew Innes, born in London, is the rhythm guitarist for the Scottish rock band Primal Scream. His musical journey began in 1978 when he joined the Glasgow punk rock band The Drains as a guitarist. There, he encountered Bobby Gillespie and Alan McGee, who would later become his bandmates.

Laughing Apple: Collaborations with Alan McGee

After The Drains disbanded, Innes and McGee relocated to London and formed Laughing Apple. From 1981 to 1982, they released three singles before the band dissolved. However, Innes and McGee's musical partnership continued.

Revolving Paint Dream: Creation Records and Experimentalism

In 1983, McGee established the independent record label Creation Records and formed the band Biff Bang Pow!. Simultaneously, Innes and his girlfriend, Christina Wenless, started Revolving Paint Dream. The group released two singles and two albums between 1984 and 1989, all under Creation Records.

Primal Scream: A Longstanding Partnership

While still a member of Revolving Paint Dream, Innes joined Primal Scream as a second guitarist in 1987. The band was founded by his long-time friend Bobby Gillespie. Innes has been part of Primal Scream ever since, contributing to all of their albums starting with their debut, "Sonic Flower Groove." His roles within the group include guitarist, songwriter, producer, and co-lyricist.
