Early Life and Career:
Born on January 31, 1971, in Chervonohrad, Lviv Oblast, Parubiy graduated from the history department of Lviv University in 1994. While still a student, he participated in the patriotic youth organization "Spadshchyna" (Heritage), advocating for the restoration of Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) graves and the preservation of Ukrainian identity.
In 1990, Parubiy was elected as a deputy to the Lviv Regional Council, where he served on the Youth and Sports Committee. A year later, he co-founded the Social-National Party of Ukraine (SNPU), which later became the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda."
Political Activism:
Parubiy was an active participant in the Orange Revolution of 2004-2005, serving as the commandant of the Ukrainian House in Kyiv during the protests. In 2005, he founded the "People's Union 'Ukrainians!'" party, which was later reorganized as the "Ukrainian House" civic organization.
Parliamentary Service:
Elected as a member of the Verkhovna Rada in 2007, Parubiy served as the head of the Subcommittee on External Relations Control of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. During his tenure, he was a member of the political council of the "Our Ukraine" party led by former President Viktor Yushchenko.
Euromaidan Revolution:
From November 2013 to February 2014, Parubiy coordinated the daily operations of the Euromaidan Revolution in Kyiv. He acted as the de facto commandant of the protest camp and led the self-defense forces, Samooborona Maidan.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council:
On February 27, 2014, Parubiy was appointed as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. As such, he played a crucial role in the establishment of the National Guard of Ukraine, which incorporated units from Samooborona Maidan and the Right Sector.
