Preparation for the Ukraine-Norway Friendly Match

Arrival of Norwegian Delegation

The Norwegian delegation, consisting of 19 footballers, 20 media representatives, and officials, arrived in Dnipropetrovsk on Monday via a charter flight from Oslo. Star player Jon Riise, who plays for AS Roma, joined the team later that day after arriving from Rome. The Norwegians checked into the Ukraine Hotel and subsequently proceeded to the Meteor Stadium for a training session. On Tuesday, they will conduct a practice session at the Dnipro Arena, the venue for the match.

Schedule for Ukrainian National Team

The Ukrainian national team is set to arrive from Kyiv on Tuesday at 11:30 PM and will stay at the Park-Hotel.

Ticket Sales and Prices

Tickets for the friendly match are priced at 50, 100, 150, and 200 hryvnia. The majority of tickets (18,000) will be sold at the lowest price.

Statement from Head of Dnipropetrovsk Football Federation

Andrei Pávelko, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Football Federation, shared updates on the match preparations. He explained that the Norwegian team requested to arrive two days before the game in order to conduct two training sessions instead of one. He also revealed that the team is bringing its strongest lineup and is taking the match seriously, as it will be their last of the year.

Visit to Local Museum

The Norwegian delegation expressed interest in visiting a museum in Dnipropetrovsk. If they confirm their desire, the federation will arrange a tour of the Historical Museum for both the players and the official delegation.

Sondre Kåfjord, the President of the Norwegian Football Association, arrived in Ukraine on Monday instead of the day before the match as initially planned. As a respected figure in the football world and a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, his presence is significant.

Media Coverage

Twenty representatives of Norwegian media outlets have accompanied the team to Ukraine. It is hoped that their coverage will showcase the positive impressions of Ukraine and Dnipropetrovsk, particularly as the city prepares to host matches during Euro 2012.

Expectations for Stadium Attendance

Despite the friendly nature of the match and the absence of well-known Ukrainian players such as Shevchenko, Tymoshchuk, and Voronin, Pávelko believes true football enthusiasts will attend to support the team. A full stadium will not only bolster the players' spirits but also strengthen Dnipropetrovsk's chances of hosting future international matches.

Replica of National Anthem Display

Similar to the 2006 match between Ukraine and Albania, where fans held up paper in blue and yellow with the national anthem printed on it, two large screens measuring 60 square meters will be set up at the stadium to display the lyrics, allowing everyone to sing along.

State of Preparation

Pávelko confirmed that most of the logistical issues have been resolved and that Dnipropetrovsk is well-prepared to host the match successfully. He is confident that the Norwegian delegation will be impressed with the city.

Collaboration between Federation and City Authorities

Pávelko acknowledged the experience gained from the 2006 Ukraine-Albania match and the improved coordination between the football federation and city authorities. The mayor of Dnipropetrovsk, Ivan Kulichenko, is credited for initiating the city's hosting of the match.

Possible Match between Ukraine and England

The successful organization of this match will be a factor in determining whether Dnipropetrovsk will be awarded the hosting rights for the Ukraine-England match scheduled for October 2010.

Expected Number of Norwegian Supporters

While no organized fan groups are expected from Norway, some individual fans may still attend the match.

Match Security

Security measures will follow the standards implemented for both domestic championship matches and UEFA Cup matches featuring FC Dnipro. Representatives from law enforcement worked with a delegation in Switzerland to study best practices from Euro 2008 in Bern.
