Childhood and Education
Andrey Shabanov was born in a family of engineers in Odessa, Ukraine. His childhood was spent in the closed military town of Chernobyl-2, where his father worked as an engineer and his mother as a radio technician. After the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, Andrey and his family returned to Odessa.
Early Career in Radio
Shabanov began his career in radio as a DJ and host at "Prosto Radi.O" in Odessa in 1994. He quickly established himself as a talented and charismatic broadcaster, hosting several popular programs, including "Musical Automator," "Shabanov Show," and "Star Wars."
Education in America
In 2002, Shabanov traveled to the United States to study at the Ohio & Illinois Center for Broadcasting. He gained valuable experience working at a local radio station in Cleveland.
Return to Ukraine and Rise to General Producer
In 2005, Shabanov returned to Ukraine and became General Producer of "Prosto Radi.O." He successfully transitioned the station from a music-focused format to a contemporary rock and talk format, significantly increasing its popularity.
Television Career
In 2011, Shabanov made his television debut as a host on the New Channel's morning show "Pod'em." His unique personality and comedic timing quickly made him a popular figure on Ukrainian television. He went on to host several other successful shows on New Channel, including "Piranii," "Abzats!," and "Proekt Perfekt."
"Stand-Up Show" and Post-Show Production
In 2014, Shabanov launched his own comedy show, "Stand-Up Show," on New Channel. He served as both host and creative producer, showcasing a diverse group of Ukrainian and international comedians. He also hosted the post-show for the investigative journalism project "Secret Agent" from 2016 onwards.
