Early Life and EducationAndrei Sibiga was born on January 1, 1975, in Zboriv, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine. He graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in 1997 with a degree in international relations.
Diplomatic Career
Sibiga began his diplomatic career in 1997, working in the Department of State and Legal Issues of the Contractual and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In 1998, he transferred to the Ukrainian embassy in Poland, where he remained until 2008.
Senior Positions within the Ministry
Following his assignment in Poland, Sibiga held various senior positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, including:
First Secretary, Legal and Humanitarian Cooperation Department, Office of European Integration (2002-2003)
Head of the International Legal Cooperation Division, Contractual and Legal Department (2003-2005)
Head of the International Law and Foreign Policy Legislation Division, Treaty Law Department (2005-2006)
Deputy Director, Treaty Law Department (2006-2008)
Overseas AssignmentsIn addition to his work in Kyiv, Sibiga also served overseas as:
Counselor-Minister, Ukrainian embassy in Poland (2008-2012)
Director, Consular Service Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2012-2016)
Ambassador to Turkey and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office
On August 23, 2016, Sibiga was appointed ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey. He was dismissed from this post in 2021 by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and subsequently became deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Minister of Foreign Affairs
On September 5, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted 258 to 226 to appoint Andrei Sibiga as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
