Early Life and Education

Born in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the journalist graduated from high school in 1982 and enrolled in the Faculty of Journalism at Kazakhstan State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), graduating in 1987.

Journalistic Debut and Founding Independent Newspapers

As a schoolboy, the journalist debuted in print in the youth newspaper "Leninskaya Smena" (now "Express K") in 1981. They continued to publish regularly in the newspaper until graduating and worked at "Leninskaya Smena na studenteskoi stroyke" (Lenin's Smena at the Student Construction Site) during their university years.

In 1989, they co-founded and became editor of Kazakhstan's first independent political newspaper, "Mnenie" (Opinion), and subsequently "S'Demokrat" (Social Democrat).

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, the journalist held various positions in the media, including:
