Andrey Terentyev was born on July 17, 1982. His family was somewhat unconventional - his mother was a military servant and his father was a police officer. Unfortunately, his father died while on duty when Andrey was still young. After this, Andrey, his mother, and his older brother moved to Smolensk.

In Smolensk, Andrey attended School №17. One day, his literature teacher suggested that the students put on a small scene from a story by Gogol. Andrey and his friend quickly made costumes, learned their lines, and prepared thoroughly. Their performance was well-received, and their teacher advised them to visit the local theater studio called "Dialog".

The artistic director of the "Dialog" theater studio, Victor Zimin, recalls, "Andrey came to our classes and I immediately noticed a spark in his eyes. He started with small roles in children's plays and later played the character Petya in a play based on Ksenia Dragunskaya's work 'Cucumbers and Other Pastries'. Later, he successfully took on the role of Zhivagin in Gogol's 'Marriage'. His character was an older man, but Andrey immersed himself in the role so well! It was hard to believe that this young actor was performing in front of the audience."

Among other notable works by the young actor were the lead role in the play "Buratino", the role of the Jester in "Cinderella", and a pirate in "Peter Pan". Andrey Terentyev fondly remembers his time at the "Dialog" theater studio and believes that it served as a certificate of his acting skills: "Every time I come to Smolensk from St. Petersburg, I am convinced and happily acknowledge that the actors of our hometown theater are worthy of the cultural capital's stages."

"Dalog" helped Andrey determine his future profession. After finishing school, he decided to apply to a theater university, but he didn't succeed on his first attempt. To make the most of his time, Andrey Terentyev passed the entrance exams at the Institute of Arts and later, on his third attempt, was admitted to the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatre Arts on V. Filshinsky's course.

After graduating from the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatre Arts, Andrey Terentyev focused on working in independent theaters such as "Priyut Komedyanta" and "Osobnyak". Theatergoers could see him in plays such as "How Beautiful You Are" (2007, directed by Pyotr Shereshyovsky), "My Friend Hitler" by Yukio Mishima (2008, directed by Semyon Alexandrovsky), "Loneliness in the Network" by Y. Vishnevsky (2009, directed by Kh. Baranovsky), "Clay Pit" by Olga Pogodina (2009, directed by Andrey Terentyev), and others.

Andrey Terentyev met his future wife, Svetlana Kutuzova, at the age of 13 in the "Dialog" theater studio. He played the character Buratino, while Svetlana played Malvina. Since then, they have been inseparable. Svetlana Kutuzova (now Terentyeva) graduated from the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatre Arts and became an actress. In addition, Svetlana is Andrey's manager. When asked if it is difficult to have two actors in the family, Andrey says, "No! We have shared interests, and that is only a plus!" The couple is raising their son, Nikita.

Like any other actor, Andrey Terentyev dreamed of a successful career and good roles. Luck smiled on the young actor when, after several small roles, he was cast in one of the main roles in the film "We Are from the Future". Initially, according to the script, the characters were somewhat different from the final version of the film. Andrey's character, Andrey Smirnov, was originally a heavy drinker and was nicknamed "Spiryt". However, the creators of the film felt that the characters should evoke more sympathy from the viewers and be more humane. As a result, "Spiryt" transformed into a rapper with dreadlocks. While Smirnov-"Spiryt" cannot be considered a role model, as he is selfish and somewhat cowardly, like many modern guys, he is a creative person, a musician, not devoid of positive qualities. Going through incredible trials with his friends, he changes for the better.

Andrey Terentyev recalls that he enjoyed working on the set of the film "We Are from the Future", finding it interesting and fulfilling. There were also challenging moments, such as having to be drenched in icy water (in early September) and even genuinely drowning. "They dropped us with Chukha in the middle of the lake and prepared the camera for a long time. Our clothes were completely soaked. Water got into Dimka's helmet, which was in my arms. I held him in all that heavy water equipment, and there was no ground beneath us. We had to swim, but we started drowning, really! And we were genuinely in danger! It was the scariest moment in the film's history," the actor recalls.

It cannot be said that Andrey Terentyev's life is divided into "BEFORE the film 'We Are from the Future'" and "AFTER the film", but it is a fact that the film brought him fame. He began receiving offers from directors and played Perets in the popular thriller series "Litseyney, 4", Gera in the series "Sea Devils - 4", and Alik Tarasov in the film "Fugitive".
