Early Life and Education
Andrzej Jarocha was born on September 18, 1948, in Wrocław, Poland. He holds a degree in electronics from the Wrocław University of Technology, which he obtained in 1971. In 1981, he earned his doctorate from the same institution.
Political Activism
During the 1980s, Jarocha was actively involved in the Fighting Solidarity movement. In 1998, he became a City Councilor for Wrocław on behalf of Solidarity Electoral Action and served as the city's deputy president.
Party Affiliation and Electoral History
In 2003, he joined the Law and Justice Party. Jarocha served as a Member of the Voivodeship Council of Lower Silesia from 2004 to 2005. In 2005, he was elected to the Polish Senate for Law and Justice. In 2007, he unsuccessfully ran for re-election.
Despite unsuccessful attempts to enter the European Parliament in 2009 and the Polish Sejm (lower house of parliament) in 2011 and 2015, Jarocha was elected to the Voivodeship Council of Lower Silesia in 2010. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2018.
As Marshal of Lower Silesia
In November 2018, Jarocha was elected Marshal (Speaker) of the VIth Voivodeship Council of Lower Silesia. He declined an opportunity to become a Sejm Deputy in place of Beata Kempa in 2019.
Honors
Jarocha has been awarded the Polish Cross of Merit, First and Second Class.
