Liubov Konstantinovna Sliska
Liubov Konstantinovna Sliska (née Timoshina) was born on October 15, 1953, in Saratov, Russia.
Early Career and Political Beginnings
Sliska embarked on her career in Saratov's industrial sector in 1971. By 1977, she had joined the personnel department of "Soyuzpechat." In 1987, she was elected as the chair of the trade union committee for the same company.
Education and Transition to Politics
In 1990, Sliska graduated from the Saratov Institute of Law with a degree in law. She subsequently moved into the political arena, joining the Obkom trade union of heavy engineering workers and eventually becoming its head.
Ascent in Government
Sliska played a role in the Saratov City Electoral Commission. From 1996 to 1999, she held various positions in the regional government, including First Deputy and Permanent Representative for the Governor in the Saratov Oblast Duma. In February 1998, she was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Saratov Oblast.
Election to the Duma
In 1999, Sliska was elected as a deputy to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Just a year later, she was chosen as First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.
Political Affiliation and Accomplishments
Sliska is a member of the presidium of the political council of the "Edinstvo" party. She has been awarded the Medal of the Order "For Services to the Fatherland" (1997).
Personal Life
Sliska is married to Sergei Germanovich, who has a Russian mother and Polish father. He is a graduate of an evening law school and served as a judge before working in the justice system.
