Laurence Joel Tchoupe-Moting
Laurence Joel Tchoupe-Moting (born 17 September 1985) is a Cameroonian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Bayern Munich and the Cameroon national team.
Early Career
Beginning in FopapeTchoupe-Moting began his football career at the age of 14 with Fopape, a Cameroonian club. His impressive performances earned him a move to Canon Yaoundé, where he played for two years.
International Recognition at 17
At the age of 17, Tchoupe-Moting made his debut for the Cameroon national team. His performances in the Africa Cup of Nations caught the attention of Italian club Vicenza, which acquired him from Canon Yaoundé.
European Journey
Brief Stint in VicenzaDuring the 1996/1997 season, Tchoupe-Moting played three matches for Vicenza before being loaned out to Serie B club Lucchese.
Rise to Prominence in Rome
In 1998, Tchoupe-Moting joined Roma. Despite facing stiff competition from other defenders, he made eight appearances in one season.
Move to Bologna and Loan to Fulham

Success with Werder Bremen
In 2006, Tchoupe-Moting was bought by Werder Bremen. With the German club, he played in the Champions League and UEFA Cup, and also won a bronze medal in the 2006-2007 Bundesliga.
Later Career
Injury Struggles and Move to CologneIn 2007/2008, Tchoupe-Moting missed the Bundesliga season due to groin problems. In the summer of 2008, he signed for newly promoted Bundesliga side Cologne on a 2+1 contract.
International Career
Debut and Olympic GloryTchoupe-Moting made his debut for the Cameroon national team on 4 June 1995 against Lesotho at the age of 17. In 2000, he played at the Sydney Olympics, where Cameroon defeated Spain in the final. He scored the winning penalty, earning him national hero status.
World Cup Appearances and Missed Penalty
Tchoupe-Moting also played in the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2001 Confederations Cup, and the 1998 and 2002 World Cups. In a crucial 2006 World Cup qualifier, he missed a penalty against Egypt. This costly miss denied Cameroon a place in the tournament, sparking outrage among fans.
