Angélica María Sepeda Jiménez was born on August 2, 1974, in Cartagena, Colombia. As the third and youngest child in the family, she was surrounded by the love of her older sisters, Yvette and Lorna. Her parents, José Sepeda and Yadiru Jiménez, had no connection to the arts – both worked as lawyers. Later, the family moved to Barranquilla in northern Colombia, where Angélica, affectionately called Angie at home, continued to live with her mother and sisters after her parents' divorce.

In her youth, Angélica Sepeda moved to the Colombian capital, Bogotá, where she enrolled in acting courses. During her studies, she landed her first job by appearing in commercials for a brewery. Sepeda's professional career began in 1993 when she appeared in several episodes of the series "Chronicle of Tragic Generations" and "Curse of Paradise".
