Early Life and Career

Angelika Beer was a German politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2004 to 2009. She was a member of the Green Party, part of the European Green Party, a political party focused on environmentalism and social justice.

Career in the European Parliament

Within the European Parliament, Beer held several key roles. She was the head of the Delegation for relations with Iran, a member of the Delegation for relations with Afghanistan, and part of the Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Additionally, she served on the European Union's Committee on Foreign Affairs and its Subcommittee on Security and Defence.

Leaving the Green Party

In January 2009, Beer failed to secure a place on the Green Party list for the European Parliament elections. Consequently, she left the party in March of that same year. She attributed her departure to the Green Party's shift towards seeking power and its abandonment of pacifist principles.

Joining the Pirate Party

In November 2009, Beer became a member of the Pirate Party of Germany, an organization advocating for civil liberties, privacy, and digital rights online. She ran for the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament in May 2012 as one of six candidates representing the Pirate Party.
