Anil Ambani, a well-known Indian businessman and billionaire, recently made the Forbes list of the world's wealthiest CEOs. Holding the seventh position on this prestigious ranking, Anil is widely recognized as the brother of Mukesh Ambani, the richest person in the world. With a net worth of $18.2 billion, Anil is a member of the board of directors of Reliance Industries Ltd, the largest petrochemical corporation in India. Although he and his elder brother Mukesh are not currently serving as CEOs, Anil has been successfully fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
Born on June 4, 1959, Anil Ambani's current family consists of his wife, a former actress, and two sons. He completed his bachelor's degree at the University of Mumbai and later pursued his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Management. Remarkably, Anil is currently a member of the board of Wharton School. Anil began his career at Reliance Industries Ltd in 1983 as a director, and during that time, he introduced many financial innovations to the Indian capital market. For instance, he was the first to introduce Indian capital to international markets, displaying his expertise in deposits, capital reversibility, and bonds. Anil was hailed as a wizard when he restructured the operations of Reliance Industries Ltd, transforming it into a global production powerhouse closely connected to India's textile, oil, petrochemicals, telecommunications, and power sectors.
Presently, Anil holds numerous positions of influence. He serves as the Chairman of the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, a city in Western India, and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology. Additionally, Anil is a member of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management. His tireless efforts also extend to the Central Advisory Committee and the Electricity Regulatory Commission. In June 2004, Anil was elected as an independent member of the Indian Parliament.
One of Anil's significant achievements in the entertainment industry is his involvement in the production of animation films and the creation of a theater in Mumbai.
