Despite their age difference, the marriage between Anne and Richard is described by historians as a happy and loving one. Anne was popular with the English people, earning their affection with her warmth and generosity. The couple remained childless throughout their union.
Death and Aftermath
Anne's life was tragically cut short when she succumbed to a bout of plague in 1394. King Richard was deeply devastated by her death, reportedly becoming "wild with grief." He ordered the demolition of Sheen Palace, where Anne had passed away, along with the surrounding buildings.
Cultural Influence
Anne's arrival in England was accompanied by a large entourage of Czech nobles. During her lifetime, there was a significant influx of Czech students into English universities. As a result, the teachings of the reformist philosopher John Wycliffe were disseminated in Bohemia, influencing the development of the Hussite movement.
