Biography of Anna Kasyan
Opera singer (soprano), of Armenian nationality. Lives in Paris. Winner of numerous music competitions. Her vocal repertoire is marked by genre diversity and includes a wide range of styles and eras.
Early Life and Education
Anna Kasyan was born into a family of renowned Armenian duduk player, Oganess Kasyan. She attended the Central Music School for Gifted Children in Tbilisi, where she studied piano and violin. At the age of eight, Kasyan started performing as a soloist with orchestras. In 1999, she enrolled in the Tbilisi State Conservatory, studying violin. It was during this period that she developed a passionate interest in singing, and two years later, she became a vocal student at the same conservatory.
Further Education and Career
From 2003, Kasyan pursued further studies in Paris at the Normal School of Music, where she graduated with three higher education diplomas. She also pursued a vocal postgraduate course at the Higher National Conservatory of Paris. In addition, she participated in masterclasses with renowned performers such as Tom Krause, Raina Kabaivanska, Viorica Cortez, Janine Reiss, and specialized in Baroque music under Nicolau de Figueiredo and Jordi Vinikour.
Awards and Achievements
Anna Kasyan is a laureate of numerous international competitions, including Strasbourg, Paris, Brussels, Geneva, ARD-Munich, Pamplona, Montreal, and UNISA. She has also been awarded grants from the Meyer Foundation (2004-2005), Bestige and Zaletski Foundations (2003-2007), and the Nadia and Lily Boulanger Foundation (2007). In 2006, she was named "Discovery of the Year in the Field of Lyrical Art" by the French Association of Performing Artists (ADAMI). Kasyan received the Audience Award for "Best Artist" at the 2008 Music Olymp Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Operatic Career
In 2007, Anna Kasyan made her debut as Rosina in Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" at the Opera en Plein Air Festival in Paris and Ile-de-France. This performance was nominated for "Best Opera Production of 2007" at the "Les Globes de Cristal des Arts et de la Culture" awards in France. Kasyan has also performed the role of Zerlina in Mozart's "Don Giovanni" in various French opera houses, including Montpellier (E. Nike/J.P. Scarpetta) in 2008, Metz (J. Mercier/N. Sadoul), and Rouen (G.J. Rumstadt/L. Lafargue) in 2009. She has also portrayed Norina in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" (A. Chiavatta/D. Uccello) in the Republic of San Marino.

Anna Kasyan has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Plácido Domingo, Kazushi Ono, Daniele Callegari, Gunter Neuhold, Alexander Rudin, Mikhail Schonwandt, Stefan Klingele, Christoph Poppen, Michel Piquemal, Hervé Niquet, and James Min.
