Anna Polikarpova is a renowned prima ballerina of the Hamburg Ballet. She was born in 1970 in Tomsk, Russia. She began her ballet training at the prestigious A. Vaganova Choreographic School, where she honed her skills and developed a deep passion for dance.

During her early career, Polikarpova made her film debut in the dramatic role of Natasha, a young alcoholic, in the movie "Dog Feast" (1990), directed by A. Menaker. However, her true calling remained in the world of ballet.

Polikarpova joined the renowned Mariinsky Theatre as a ballerina, where she showcased her exceptional talent and captivated audiences with her grace and artistry on stage. In the early 1990s, she was invited by the director of the Hamburg Ballet, John Neumeier, along with her husband, dancer Ivan Urban, to join the company.
