Biography of Anne Woods
Anne Woods, also known as the winner of the World Female Gurning Championship, has finally made it into the Guinness World Records as the owner of the ugliest grimace. Anne Woods has won the special competition at the Egremont Crab Fair in Cumbria a total of 27 times. This fair is known for its unusual festivities, but the gurning competition stands out among them all. Participants try to make the most repulsive and grotesque faces while wearing a horse collar. This tradition is believed to have originated in medieval times.

Despite her numerous victories in similar competitions, Anne Woods had never made it into the Guinness World Records. Meanwhile, Tommy Mattinson, the male gurning champion, had won the title 11 times and secured his place in the record book. However, after her recent success in the September competition, Woods has joined other accomplished individuals in the Guinness World Records as the woman with the ugliest grimace in the world.
"I feel absolutely amazing to be included in the Guinness World Records, but it only happened after winning this competition 27 times," Woods said. "I had decided not to participate in gurning anymore, but I know myself. Next year, I will want to take part again. But whatever decision I make in the end, I doubt my record will be broken."
Anne Woods started participating in grimace competitions when she was 30 years old. Her brothers initially registered her without her permission. Since then, 33 years have passed, bringing her 27 victories and ultimately leading to her inclusion in the Guinness World Records. However, her last victory was not easy for Woods. She fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. Her daughter, Brenda, mentioned that winning this year was a shock for her mother, but she enjoys doing it. "Gurning holds an important place in her life," Brenda reported.
Anne Woods only missed the competition once when she was pregnant, but she returned to participate just two weeks after giving birth to her daughter, eager to reclaim her champion title.
