Early Life and Family
Ansu Fati, full name Anssumane Fati Vieira, was born on October 31, 2002, in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau. His parents are Ludres Fati and Boiro Fati, who played as a footballer in the lower leagues in Europe. Due to political unrest in Guinea-Bissau, Boiro moved to Spain to work as a garbage truck driver, supporting his family from afar. In 2008, when Ansu was six years old, his mother and siblings joined him in Herrera, Spain.
Football Beginnings
Ansu's first steps in football were with Peloteros de Herrera, and three years later, he joined Sevilla FC's youth academy. His impressive skills caught the attention of Barcelona and Real Madrid, but it was Albert Puig who convinced Ansu to join the Catalan club, promising that he would play for the first team within two years.
Breakthrough at Barcelona
In 2012, Ansu officially became a Barcelona player alongside his older brother, Braima. Starting as a forward in the Alevín A team, he quickly became a key player, forming a formidable partnership with Japanese prodigy Takefusa Kubo. In his first season, he scored an astonishing 56 goals.
Setbacks and Triumphs
Ansu's progress was briefly hindered by FIFA sanctions and a serious leg injury in 2015. However, his return to the field marked a change in his role, as he became a left-winger.
On August 25, 2019, Ansu made his debut for Barcelona's first team against Real Betis, becoming the club's youngest debutant in 78 years. He scored his first goal a week later against Osasuna, and then again against Valencia.
International Career
A month before his 17th birthday, Ansu obtained Spanish citizenship and made his debut for the under-21 national team in October 2019. He continued to impress, becoming the youngest debutant and goalscorer in UEFA Champions League history.
Current Status
In 2020, Ansu's contract with Barcelona was extended until 2024. He has remained a vital player for both club and country, scoring important goals and breaking records. Despite interest from other clubs, Barcelona has made it clear that they have no intention of letting Ansu go.
Personal Life
Ansu is focused on his career and has no publicly known romantic relationships. He is a practicing Muslim and has been praised by coaches for his anarchic style of play, which allows him to express his creativity on the field.
