Born in October 1945 in Staffordshire, England, Sir Anthony succeeded his father, Joseph Cyril Bamford, as the chairman and managing director of JCB Ltd. at the age of 30 in 1975. Under his leadership, JCB became a global leader in its industry, known for its innovative machinery and equipment.

In 1990, at the age of 45, Sir Anthony was knighted and became Sir Anthony Paul Bamford. His wealth was estimated at £1.95 billion in 2008.
