Early Career and Junior SuccessAntonio Pizzolato, an Italian weightlifter, began his international career in 2011 at the youth level. His early success came at the junior level, where he earned two European Championship gold medals in the 85kg category in 2015 and 2016.
Debut and Breakthrough on the Adult Stage
Pizzolato made his senior debut at the 2014 World Championships, where he placed 24th in the 85kg category. In 2015 and 2016, he continued to improve, finishing 6th and 4th respectively at the European Championships.
World and European Success
His major breakthrough came in 2017 at the World Championships in Anaheim. Competing in the 85kg category, he won the bronze medal with a total weight of 358kg. In 2019, he became the European Champion in the 81kg category, lifting a total of 356kg. He repeated this feat in 2021, winning the European Championship with a total of 370kg and a small gold medal in the snatch (164kg).
Olympic Bronze and Silver at European Championships
Pizzolato made his Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games, where he earned a bronze medal with a total lift of 365kg. In 2024, he won the silver medal at the European Championships in Sofia with a total of 380kg.
Bronze in Paris
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Pizzolato competed in the 89kg category and earned another bronze medal. Despite lifting a total of 384kg, 20kg less than champion Carlos Nasar, his performance was a testament to his unwavering determination and exceptional lifting abilities.
