Early Life and BackgroundSolfrir Koanda, born in Finland to a Finnish mother and an Ivoirian father, moved to Grimstad, Norway with her parents at the age of 9. At 15, she was placed in foster care. During this time, she discovered her passion for fitness and began training in the gym.
Introduction to Weightlifting
In 2020, Koanda turned her attention to weightlifting. With the guidance of national team coach Sigmund Smalenget, she found her niche in competitive weightlifting.
Career Highlights
2021 European Championship DebutIn 2021, Koanda qualified for the European Weightlifting Championships, setting national records in both the snatch (96kg) and clean and jerk (125kg). In Moscow, she placed fifth overall in the 87kg category but earned a bronze medal in the clean and jerk (135kg).
2021 World Championships Triumph
At the World Championships in Tashkent, Koanda clinched a bronze medal in the 87kg category with a total of 244kg. She also won the gold medal in the clean and jerk (141kg).
2022 European Championship Victory
In 2022, Koanda dominated at the European Championships in Tirana, lifting a total of 252kg in the 87kg category. Her performance earned her a decisive victory over her opponents.
2022 World Championship Title
At the 2022 World Championships in Bogota, Colombia, Koanda captured the world title in the 87kg category with a total lift of 260kg. She also won gold medals in both the snatch and clean and jerk competitions.

In 2023, Koanda defended her title at the European Championships in Yerevan, winning the 87kg category with a total of 272kg and earning gold medals in both individual lifts.
