Early Life and Education
Antti Rinne was born on November 3, 1962, in Helsinki, Finland. He graduated from the University of Helsinki with a degree in political science.
Political Career
Rinne entered politics as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In 2014, he was elected Chairman of the SDP, defeating Jutta Urpilainen. Under his leadership, the party focused on "economic growth and employment."
Minister of Finance
In 2014 and 2015, Rinne served as Minister of Finance in the cabinets of Jyrki Katainen and Alexander Stubb. He oversaw economic policy and implemented measures to promote economic growth.
Parliamentary Speaker and Prime Minister
In 2017, Rinne was re-elected as Chairman of the SDP. In 2019, the SDP emerged victorious in parliamentary elections, leading to Rinne's appointment as Speaker of Parliament.
On June 6, 2019, Rinne was elected Prime Minister of Finland. He formed a government composed of the SDP, the Center Party, the Green League, and the Left Alliance.
Resignation
Rinne's tenure as Prime Minister was short-lived. On December 3, 2019, he submitted his resignation due to a loss of confidence in his government.
Later Years
In 2020, Sanna Marin succeeded Rinne as Chairman of the SDP. Rinne remains an active member of the Social Democratic Party and continues to voice his opinions on Finnish politics.
