Professional Finnish Ice Hockey PlayerAntti Pihlström is a professional Finnish ice hockey player who primarily plays as a forward. He was born on October 22, 1984, in Vantaa, Finland.
Champion and Medalist
Pihlström has had a successful career, winning the World Championship in 2011 with the Finnish national team. He also secured a bronze medal in the 2014 Winter Olympics as part of the Finnish team.
Club Career
Pihlström started his club career in the Finnish SM-liiga, playing for teams such as Espoo Blues, HPK, and SaiPa. In 2007, he signed a two-year contract with the Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League (NHL). During his first season in North America, Pihlström mostly played for the Predators' AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. He also made his NHL debut, appearing in one game for the Predators.
After his stint in North America, Pihlström played for Färjestads BK in the Swedish Hockey League and JYP in his native Finland before moving to Russia. He spent four seasons with Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) before returning to North America as a free agent. He joined the Columbus Blue Jackets for their training camp in the 2015-2016 season but ultimately played for CSKA Moscow in the KHL.
International Career
Pihlström made his debut for the Finnish national team in the 2008 World Championship, where he impressed with his scoring ability, netting five goals and leading the Finnish team.
Continued Success
In September 2016, Pihlström signed a one-month contract with HC Fribourg-Gottéron in the Swiss National League A (NLA). The following month, he transferred to Jokerit Helsinki in the KHL, where he continues to showcase his skills on the international stage.
