Early Life and Education

Born in Azerbaijan, Agil Abbas pursued his higher education at Baku State University, graduating with a degree in Philology.

Literary and Journalistic Career

Abbas's passion for literature and journalism led him to join the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan and earn the prestigious "Honored Journalist of Azerbaijan" title. He published eight books and earned numerous awards, including the "Araz," "Dan Ulduzu," and "Golden Pen" prizes. Notably, Abbas served as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Justice" from 1990 onward.

Political Activism

In 2002, Abbas's journalistic endeavors were recognized as he was named "Journalist of the Year" by a survey conducted by the Public Opinion Research Center and "Milletin Gazeti" newspaper.

Political Career

Election to Parliament

Abbas's political journey began in 2005 when he was elected as an independent candidate to the third convocation of the Milli Mejlis (Azerbaijan's parliament) from the 83rd Agjabedi-Agdam electoral district.

Committee and Working Group Participation

As a member of parliament, Abbas served on the Standing Commission on Security and Defense. He also actively participated in working groups focused on interparliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and various countries, including Albania, France, Mexico, and Turkey.
