Armenian Football Star: Samvel Azizyan
Early Career at KotaykSamvel Azizyan embarked on his professional football journey at the young age of 17, joining the reserve team of Kotayk Abovyan. After a successful season, the team transformed into a separate entity and relocated to Yerevan.
Seven Seasons at Ararat Yerevan
Azizyan spent the next seven years of his career with Ararat Yerevan, a prominent Armenian club. His consistent performances established him as a reliable goalkeeper in the league.
Stint in Iran and Return to Armenia
In 2004, Azizyan sought new challenges in Iran, joining Bargh Shiraz. After three seasons abroad, he returned to Armenia and signed for Kilikia, a modest Premier League club. In 2006, he played a pivotal role in helping Kilikia reach the Armenian Cup final.
Success with Mika
Following his impressive performance at Kilikia, Azizyan secured a move to FC Mika. During his time at the club, he achieved notable success by winning both the Armenian Cup and Super Cup in 2006.
Brief Spells at Ulisses and Impuls
In 2007, Azizyan joined Ulisses for a short period, making more appearances than in his subsequent two full seasons at the club. He then spent the 2010 season with Impuls, establishing himself as the team's primary goalkeeper until the arrival of Gevorg Prazyan.
Milestones and Controversies
In September 2010, Azizyan became one of the most experienced goalkeepers in Armenian football history, having played 138 matches in the top division. However, his tenure at Impuls was marred by a red card he received in the 10th round of the league.
Departure to Iran
After his departure from Impuls, Azizyan signed a one-year contract with Abumoslem of Iran in August 2011, seeking a fresh start in his career.
