Aramais Grigoryan: Armenian Minister of Agriculture
Early Life and EducationAramais Temurovich Grigoryan was born on October 6, 1965, in the village of Avshar, Ararat, Armenia. He graduated from the Saint Petersburg Institute of Light Industry (Russia) in 1988, specializing as an engineer-technologist.
Military Service and Professional Background
From 1985 to 1987, Grigoryan served in the army. Upon his discharge, he worked as a quality engineer at the Ararat Knitwear Factory from 1987 to 1988. From 1988 to 1990, he headed the organizational department of the Ararat District Committee of the Leninist Communist Youth Union of Armenia in Vedi.
Between 1999 and 2002, Grigoryan held various positions at the Avshar Winery, eventually rising to the position of General Director from 2002 to 2003.
Parliamentary Career
Grigoryan's political career began when he was elected to the Armenian Parliament in 2003. He served as a member of the Standing Committee on Financial, Credit, Budgetary, and Economic Issues. In 2006, he became Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense, National Security, and Internal Affairs.
In 2007, Grigoryan was re-elected to Parliament as a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF).
Minister of Agriculture
In June 2008, Grigoryan was appointed Minister of Agriculture of Armenia. He has served in this role since then.
