Aravane Rezaï is a French tennis player of Persian descent. She was born on March 14, 1987, in Saint-Étienne, France. Rezaï began her professional tennis career in 2005 and quickly made a name for herself in the world of women's tennis.
Early Years
Rezaï first competed in a Grand Slam tournament in 2005, participating in the Australian Open. However, she was unable to qualify for the main draw. Despite this setback, Rezaï found success at the French Open later that year, reaching the second round of the main draw.
In 2006, Rezaï once again failed to qualify for the Australian Open but made up for it by reaching the third round of the French Open. She had a strong showing at the US Open that year, making it to the fourth round. Rezaï's achievements were not limited to the Grand Slam tournaments; she also reached two finals in International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments.
Professional Career
In 2007, Rezaï faced some challenges, struggling to advance beyond the early rounds in many tournaments. She did, however, reach the final of the Istanbul Cup, defeating Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova along the way. Rezaï faced Elena Dementieva in the final and narrowly missed out on the title.

Rezaï continued to compete in Grand Slam tournaments and had some notable victories over top-ranked players, including Jelena Janković, Justine Henin, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Dinara Safina, Francesca Schiavone, Caroline Wozniacki, Marion Bartoli, Victoria Azarenka, Flavia Pennetta, and Ai Sugiyama.
In 2010, Rezaï had a consistently solid performance, reaching the second and third rounds of several Grand Slam tournaments. Her standout achievement that year was winning the Mutua Madrid Open, where she defeated Justine Henin, Jelena Janković, and Venus Williams.
In 2011, Rezaï's performance declined, and she struggled to advance past the first rounds of the Grand Slam tournaments. She continued to compete professionally but did not achieve significant success in subsequent years.
