Ariana DeBose, an American actress of Afro-Latinx descent, was born on January 25, 1991, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Raised in Raleigh, known as the "City of Oaks," DeBose pursued academics and sports while nurturing a passion for the arts. She enrolled in dance classes at CC & Co. Dance Complex, igniting her true calling in choreography. After graduating high school, she attended Western Carolina University but left after two months to focus on her dance career.

Television and Theater Debut

DeBose's television debut came in 2009 as a contestant on the reality show "So You Think You Can Dance?" Her captivating presence landed her among the top twenty dancers.
