Ariel was born on February 19, 1985, in Winter Park, Florida. She graduated from high school in Crenshaw at the age of 17 and immediately moved to Los Angeles. Before moving to Los Angeles and getting her first television role, she participated in the Miss Florida competition. Although she did not win the main title and only placed 33rd, that number brought her luck.

A year later, in 2003, she embarked on a road trip with her mother to Los Angeles, driving through the roads of America for two and a half days. Shortly after her arrival, she landed the role of Lindsay Lister in the TV series "Gilmore Girls." She then had a series of minor roles in films such as "Judging Amy," "CSI," "CSI: Miami," and "Grounded for Life." She also appeared in movies like "Soul Plane" as Heather Hunkee, "American Pie: Band Camp," "Reeker," "John Tucker Must Die," "The Grudge 2," and "Be Cool."
