The Early Years
Arcadie Luxemburg was born into the world of music in 1939. After completing his secondary musical education, he embarked on a journey at the Moldavian State Conservatory, where he honed his skills in piano, theory, and composition under the guidance of renowned composer Solomon Lobel. In 1964, he graduated with a first piano concerto with orchestra as his diploma work.
A Multifaceted Educator
Throughout his career, Luxemburg has played a pivotal role in nurturing young musical talent. He taught theoretical disciplines and composition at the Neaga Musical School, the Chișinău Conservatory, and the Eugen Coca Musical School. Among his esteemed students are composer Vladimir Ciolac and renowned vocalists Nadezhda Chepraga and Sofia Rotaru.
A Literary Musical Education
In addition to his teaching, Luxemburg has authored esteemed textbooks and методические пособия (methodological guides) on music theory, harmony, and solfeggio. He has also led various estrada (pop music) ensembles, such as "Lyudmila" and "Majorra."
A Global Musical Journey
Luxemburg's career took an international turn in 1990 when he relocated to Jerusalem, where he taught music theory and piano at the David Yellin Academic College of Education. He currently resides in San Diego, California, where he holds teaching positions at San Diego State University, Mesa College, and California Ballet. His musical works have graced the stages of prominent ensembles in San Diego, including the New City Sinfonia, Tifereth Israel Orchestra, and Point Loma Orchestra.
A Renowned Composer
Luxemburg has composed an array of symphonic works, including "Andriesh" (based on Ion Bucovschi's fairy tales), a simfonietta, and a symphony for string orchestra entitled "In Memory of the Holocaust Victims." His two piano concertos and a cello concerto have also earned recognition.

Luxemburg's compositions intricately weave together elements of both Moldavian and American folklore, evident in works like "Simfonietta" and "Humoresque." He masterfully incorporates jazz influences ("Elegy and Ragtime"), serial techniques, and contemporary musical forms.

His talents extend to the realm of popular music, with notable contributions such as "În Moldova mea frumoasă" ("In My Beautiful Moldavia"), "Băieții veseli" ("Merry Boys"), and "My San Diego." His compositions have been performed by renowned singers and ensembles in Moldova and internationally.
