Armen Gyulbudagyants: Soviet and Armenian Footballer
Armen Gyulbudagyants was a Soviet and Armenian footballer who played as a midfielder. He played his only match for the Armenian national team on July 16, 1994, against Malta.
Coaching Career
Gyulbudagyants began his coaching career in 2001, when he took charge of newly re-established Banants. He remained at the club for two full seasons, leaving in April 2003.
In mid-2007, he was appointed head coach of Pyunik, replacing Samvel Petrosyan. The following year, he was replaced by Vardan Minasyan after Pyunik's away defeat against Gandzasar Kapan.
Gyulbudagyants returned to Banants in 2007 following the dismissal of Danish coach Kim Splidsboel. Under his leadership, Banants finished 5th in the 2008 Armenian Premier League and reached the semi-finals of the 2009 Armenian Cup.
However, due to inconsistent results in the 2009 league season, Gyulbudagyants was dismissed as manager. He then assumed the role of technical director and worked with assistant Ara Nigoyan to develop young players.
In the second half of the 2009 season, Gyulbudagyants was appointed head coach of Impuls, replacing Varuazhan Sukiasyan. He finished second in the voting for the Coach of the Season award, behind only Vardan Minasyan.
